Following the directive from the Ontario government, we are pleased to announce that One Toronto Gaming has moved to 100% capacity at its four gaming properties as of February 17, 2022. The easing of additional restrictions became effective as of Tuesday, March 1, 2022, including:

  • Removal of proof of vaccination status required for guests and team members.
  • Removing of barriers throughout our gaming floor.
  • Removal of Active Screening requirements for guests, passive screening will remain.
  • Removal of Active Screening requirements for team members, passive screening will remain.

In the coming weeks, the Company is also excited to restore other amenities at its facilities, including buffets, entertainment and other food and beverage services at some locations.

“I want to commend the Ontario provincial government for the easing of these restrictions and the confidence they have placed in the province’s casino sector to continue to keep our guests and team members safe moving forward,” stated Tony Rodio, Chief Executive Officer, Great Canadian. “I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to our thousands of team members across the province,” Rodio continued. “These last two years have been exceptionally difficult for them, with many not even having had the chance to return to work. Their resilience and tireless efforts to keep our guests and each other safe as we navigated through this pandemic is a tremendous testament to their professionalism and dedication.”

Further to the Ontario provincial government’s announcement on January 3rd, 2022, that businesses, such as casinos, must close in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, One Toronto Gaming properties are temporarily suspending all operations as of Tuesday, January 4th at 11:59p.m. EST.

Free play promo credits earned after December 1st, 2021, or Resort Complimentary Dollars earned after July 16th, 2021, will not expire and will be available to One Rewards members when the casinos reopen. We will begin a new expiration period for free play and Resort Complimentary Dollars after reopening.

As of September 22, 2021, casino visitors will require proof of full vaccination series in accordance with Public Health at least 14 days prior to date of entry and a photo ID to enter Ontario casinos, including all One Toronto Gaming properties – Casino Woodbine, Pickering Casino Resort, Great Blue Heron Casino and Casino Ajax.

This new requirement is in line with the provincial government of Ontario’s Enhanced COVID-19 Vaccine announcement that was made on Wednesday September 1, 2021, stating patrons will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain indoor public settings, of which casinos are included.

Proof of full vaccination status can be presented through printed vaccine receipts or on a mobile device until an enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code is available through the provincial government. Find out how to easily download your vaccination receipts here. 

This measure is in addition to the current screening, contact tracing and health and safety protocols that are currently in place to ensure your safety and that of our team members.

July 23, 2021 – Toronto, ON – Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (TSX:GC) (“Great Canadian” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce the opening of the casino at the Company’s newest property, Pickering Casino Resort (“PCR”), on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. EST.

Once COVID-19 health and safety restrictions are removed, the property will feature approximately 2,400 slot machines, just under 100 “live” table games, approximately 140 “live dealer” stadium gaming terminals, and 10 dining options. In this first phase of the property’s opening, PCR will feature a gaming floor and food and beverage amenities with reduced occupancy levels to align with physical distancing requirements.

“The opening of the casino at Pickering Casino Resort is yet another step towards our company’s recovery from the impact of COVID-19 and means another 600 jobs created in the Durham Region in this first phase of the property’s opening,” stated Terrance Doyle, the Company’s Interim Chief Executive Officer. “This will be Great Canadian’s 25th property currently operating in Canada and the first casino resort opened in Ontario in 16 years, and I would like to thank all the hard work invested by our team, our contractors and other important stakeholders who have helped us achieve this incredible milestone,” Doyle concluded.

The Company is also planning to open the casino at the Pickering Casino Resort in the near future, with the remainder of the resort opening at a later date in 2022.

Under the Province’s current health and safety framework, the Company’s Ontario properties will reopen with reduced gaming capacity to reflect physical distancing requirements. The Company will continue to work cooperatively with industry stakeholders and regulatory agencies on the easing of these restrictions in a safe and responsible manner.

Casino Woodbine will be reopening at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 14, 2020, as a result of the Ontario provincial government’s announcement allowing the reopening of certain businesses. The Ontario provincial government mandated that certain businesses, including casinos, in certain regions of the Province temporarily suspend operations on October 9, 2020 as part of the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
